In 1963 Neyland, having won the 1962 Harrison Allen final, returned to take on rank outsiders Llanrhian. The match was played in poor light and a steady drizzle but there was some good cricket nonetheless before Neyland retained the bowl by 11 runs.
Neyland batted first and lost Neville Davies in the first over, but steady knocks by Eric Slade, Roy Griffiths, John Laugharne and Colin Davies took the team to 102 for 6, with Ken arran, Lloyd and Howells not being required to bat. Despite incessant drizzle, which made it difficult to bowl, Lloyd and Howells took 3 wickets apiece as Llanrhian struggled to 84 and Ken Edwards helped Neyland's cause with a very useful 2 for 8 analysis.
Eager to build a match-winning total, Neyland openers Slade and Davies set about the Llanrhian bowling to such good effect that they scored 30 and 39 respectively as Neyland consolidated their 18 run first innings advantage. The following batsmen came and went quickly in the quest for quick runs and when the innings closed at 108 for 6, Llanrhian knew they faced a difficult target of 127 to win.
The third division outfit lost quick early wickets, but then Wayne Roberts the hero of their first innings, and Alun Davies came together in a sparkling partnership. Davies attacked all the bowlers but unluckily (and luckily for Neyland!) hit his own wicket from a delivery by Davies when he'd scored a fine 47 - and Neyland were home and dry for their second successive win.
